Advanced Beginners II
Come learn Yiddish reading, conversation skills and elementary grammar. This course will suit you whether you’re totally new to Yiddish or whether you already know the alphabet and a few basics. A textbook, songs and other multi-media materials will be used.
Instructor: Hanna Palmon
has a Masters in education and is a middle school teacher at The Learning Center for the Deaf. She learned Yiddish at the University of Texas and the Uriel Weinreich program at Columbia University, and was an intern at the National Yiddish Book Center. A Yiddish activist, she sits on the board of Yugntruf: Youth for Yiddish and is a graduate of Yugntruf's 2010 Yiddish Teachers' Seminar.

Intermediate
Using the textbook "College Yiddish", students who already know basic vocabulary and grammar will build conversational vocabulary, strengthen their grammar and further develop their reading skills. Perfect for students who have completed a semester of Yiddish in college or who have previously taken the Workmen’s Circle Advanced Beginner class.
Instructor: Abby Howell Miller

Intermediate Reading Circle
Students will read and compare the American immigrant experience as presented in Sholem Asch’s “Keyn Amerike” and Sholem Aleykhem’s “Motl, Peysi dem Khazns”. Conversation and grammar will be interspersed with the readings. Students should be comfortable reading Yiddish texts with the aid of a dictionary. Instructor: Lillian Shporer Leavitt is a daughter of Shoah survivors, grew up speaking Yiddish and graduated from the Bostoner Arbeter Ring Shule.  She was a computer software trainer for many years before transferring her teaching skills to Yiddish.  She has been teaching Yiddish at the Workmen's Circle, synagogues, and community centers of Boston for the past dozen years.
